ECHO PARK ARTISTS
FESTIVAL UPDATE
The 1998 festival is scheduled
for Saturday, October 10. The
festival date has been moved
to boost artist participation by avoiding overlap with other city art events
scheduled for the first weekend of the month.
We count on sufficient funds
to hire a curator will to handle the
professional art exhibition.
In addition, the festival committee will seek out the services of a respected
member of the art community to jury entries for inclusion in the exhibit.
Nominations are welcome. The festival also plans to add poetry readings
and other spoken word performances to complement the visual arts and musical
entertainment. The festival has been supported by Councilmember Jackie
Goldberg’s office, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and several
community groups.
The continued success and
existence of the festival is dependent on a large contingent of volunteers
of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers can tackle long-range planning
for events or just help out on the day of the festival. Everyone--not just
artists--can volunteer their time, muscle, expertise.
